Walmart In Jamaica| Is There A Walmart In Montego Bay? + Alternatives

One of the most popular questions I get from travelers planning a trip to Jamaica is, “Is there a Walmart in Montego Bay?” Or “Is there a Walmart in Jamaica?” The answer is no to both. There is not currently a Walmart in Montego Bay or anywhere in Jamaica.
However, there are several large grocery stores that offer a similar shopping experience where you can find both international and Jamaican brands.

Grocery Stores In Montego Bay
There are several large grocery stores in Montego Bay, Jamaica, that offer a wide variety of items, including food, toiletries, and souvenirs. The two most popular grocery stores are Magamart and PriceSmart. Both of these stores are close to the Hip Strip – the main tourist area of Montego Bay.

Megamart Montego Bay Jamaica
The closest thing to a Walmart in Montego Bay is Megamart. Megamart is a large grocery store chain with several locations throughout Jamaica.
They carry a wide variety of food, household goods, and electronics. Megamart Jamaica also has a small selection of souvenirs, including t-shirts, hats, and mugs.
Megamart is located in Catherine Hall Plaza in Montego Bay.
Stores In Jamaica
Below is a list of stores in Jamaica that you can shop at when visiting the island.
PriceSmart is patterned after the U.S. based Costco store and offers Jamaican and international food items like trail mix, fresh baked goods, as well as appliances, electronics, and other merchandise.
PriceSmart has locations in Kingston, Portmore and Montego Bay. However, the branch in Montego Bay mostly sells fresh bakery.

While neither of these stores are affiliated with Walmart, they both offer a similar shopping experience and a variety of merchandise. Prices at both stores are typically lower than those at hotels and resorts in Montego Bay.
Hi-Low grocery store is a part of GraceKennedy Foods & Services Ltd. This supermarket chain offers a wide range of grocery and non-grocery items like diapers, baby food, almond milk, yoghurt and snacks at competitive prices.
Hi-Low grocery store has 13 locations, including Kingston, Spanish Town, Montego Bay and Negril. So, if you are staying in Negril, then you can shop at Hi-Low store.
Hi-Lo grocery store also offers online shopping in Jamaica.
CPJ market is known for its collection of high-quality food brands, gourmet items, organic produce, meat and seafood. CPJ is an excellent option for finding specific items that are not carried in local supermarkets. Locations include Kingston, Montego Bay and Ocho Rios.

Super Plus Food Store is a local Jamaican chain store offering a wide selection of Jamaican and international items. In addition to food, Super Plus Foods also sell electronics, toys, and other household goods.

There is no big box retail store in Jamaica, so if you’re looking for a Walmart-style shopping experience while in Jamaica you might be disappointed.
However, you’ll be happy to know that there several large grocery stores throughout Jamaica that you’ll be able to find some international brands and grocery items if you are looking for basic shopping supplies.
