Travel Resources

They say starting anything is the greatest hurdle and this couldn’t be truer when trying to organising a trip.

There is various septum of planners, from those who create meticulous itineraries to those that show up without even such much as booking a hotel (the free spirits). You know who you are – (not judging, but I’m judging with a side eye).

I travel with my brother sometimes and he is the free spirit type of traveler, the type to show up and see what’s happening. I am not that kind of traveler. Girrrl give me an itinerary, so I know, where we going, what we doing and how much it’s going to cost me. I need to save my coins and my time.

I am somewhere in between, I’ve been known to show up at the airport without printing a boarding pass or two.

But to save you from such embarrassment, I have organised a list of travel sites that will help you with anything from travel inspiration to booking all your travel essentials.

Being a planner I have picked some of the best travel websites, that gives you the best deals, discounts and how I use them when I am planning a trip.

Flights

Skyscanner

I don’t think I’ve ever booked a flight without first checking Skyscanner for cheaper options or the best deals on tickets. There are even an ‘everywhere’ search options for those who don’t know where they want to visit.

Google Flight

Google fights is probably the easiest and most comprehensive flight search tool. I always use Google flights when searching for flights, then cross-check on Skyscanner or another search tool to ensure I’ve found the best options.

Kayak

Is another great search tool I use when looking for flight deals. It searches hundreds of other travel sites at once to find the information you need to make the right decisions on flights. Use can also use it to search hotels and car hires..

Accommodations

Airbnb

I find this site great for booking apartments whether for a girls weekend away or a holiday house big enough to for 30 members of your family, for a family reunion at a reasonable price. You can even book a tree house and if you use my link you’ll get £30 off your first booking.

Vrbo

Vrbo is a holiday rentals community that offers guests different options beyond a standard hotel. Boasting property owners all over the world, Vrbo has a vast network of bookable properties.

Booking.com

You can still find the cheapest deals here and it’s one of the best comparisons sites around. With booking.com you can check a hotels rating, maps to how near a restaurant is to your hotel. My favourite feature of the site is the reviews from past guest, which can be very informative giving details on parking to which floor you should stay on at a specific hotel.

Hotels Combined

For hotels, I’ll check HotelsCombined to see if their discounted rates as it compares rates from all the top search sites. It has some of the lowest rates for hotels and one of the top sites I suggest using when checking hotel rates.

Agoda

Is an online travel agency and metasearch engine for hotels, vacation rentals, flights, and airport transfer.
