What Is the Seven Sisters Country Park Weather Like?


One of the best ways to discover the white cliffs is at the Seven Sisters Country Park. The area covers 280 hectares of chalk cliffs, a stunning river valley and open grassland. 

The park is located near Seaford in East Sussex and experiences mild weather throughout the year.

It rarely experiences extreme weather conditions. As a result, you can visit the area anytime during the year.

The type of weather you will experience varies depending on when you visit. For those looking to visit on a warmer day in summer, it is best to visit during August.

On average, this is the hottest month. Those wanting to see the cliffs in winter for a more moody vibe, and maybe catch a glimpse of snow, should visit during January – the coldest month. 

The temperature is only one aspect you need to keep in mind when visiting. You should also remember to check what the rain and cloud forecast will be like. Generally, there is a consistent amount of rainfall during the year.

However, October is the wettest month. Keep this in mind when planning your trip. Rain could prevent you from getting great pictures of the scenic cliffs and going on one of the numerous beautiful hikes.  

Ordinarily, March is the driest month to visit the Seven Sisters Cliffs. It’s the perfect time to take a day trip from London to the Seven Sisters. Flowers are starting to bloom, there is a slight crisp to the air, and the sun is just strong enough to enjoy a day out in nature.

The weather at the chalk cliffs can be unpredictable, just like in the rest of the UK. It’s possible to experience all four seasons in just a single day. During my trip to the Seven Sisters, this is what happens, and you can see from my photos.

It went from the super sunny, warm and turquoise sea (summer weather) to overcast, cold and moody, which felt like I was visiting in winter. Thank god I as wear a coat on the trip to keep me warm.

I recommend checking the forecast before you plan your journey in order to get the most out of your trip. It’s advisable to check the BBC weather at Seven Sisters to get an accurate and comprehensive forecast of the weather. 

Knowing what weather to expect will be a great help in getting a better idea of what type of clothing you’ll need during your trip.

To be on the safe side, it’s best to bring a hooded waterproof coat. Just in case you are caught up in a surprise spell of rain and/or wind. And it’s very windy there, so be careful if you are wearing a dress or skirt as you might end up flashing the English Channel .

The seasonal difference in Seven Sisters Sussex weather is varying. It predominately depends on the season you choose to visit this natural wonder. The yearly average high temperature is 14°C, and the yearly average low temperature is 8°C.

The days are short, and the temperatures are cold. But the air is crisp and clear, allowing those visitors brave enough to face the cold to capture great pictures during their hikes along the stunning cliffs. So don’t forget to pack your travel camera for the trip.

From December to February the average daytime temperatures sit between 8°C and 9°C. Be sure to dress warmly since there is a possibility of snowfall during this time of the year.

You can expect sunny days to be mixed with cooler and wet weather. From March to May the average temperature during the day is between 9°C and 16°C. 

Seven Sisters Cliffs in Summer

The days are at their longest during summer and range from mild to warm in temperature. With the possibility of a few hotter days. You might experience humid conditions and the weather can be overcast. 

During June, July and August, the average temperature is 21°C. The summer is a great time to combine a trip to the Seven Sisters Cliffs with a stop in Brighton to enjoy Sussex’s coastline.
