I've taken the liberty of listing some budget friendly options, that are still exciting and special. This is perfect whether you’ve got those pounds to splash on your beloved and whisk them to a romantic European destination or it’s a budding relationship and you don’t want to spend too much on one date. Don’t worry just think of me as your little cupid.
Here are some budget friendly date ideas for Valentine’s Day
A Romantic Weekend Trip to Paris
Want to push the boat out a little bit? Then you may want to consider a weekend trip to Paris – the city of love. Nothing says romance like a trip to Paris – it’s the easiest way to a girl’s heart. There are deals to be had right now including travel from London via the Eurostar and two nights stay for under £250. With most of the hotels located within walking distances from Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Élysées and the Eiffel Tower.I would suggest visiting the Louvre early first thing in the morning to avoid the big tour groups (free entry for 18- 25 years-old EU resident, present ID). Once there, head straight for the Mona Lisa, so you can view, it in peace and not be blocked by 50 other tourists. After that, you can wander the Louvre at your own leisure.Of course, no visit to Paris is complete without visiting the Eiffel Tower. I would recommend having lunch at Le Jules Verne, which is above the viewing platforms on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower. This is definitely a little splurge, but worth it for the spectacular view of Paris and the fact that you're transported the restaurant by a private lift. I didn’t suggest dinner, as dinner reservations are incredibly difficult to get and you sometimes will need to book three months in advance.
This restaurant also has a dress code so leave your trainers at home.
You could finish your day off by taking in a show at Moulin Rouge or have dinner at a quiet Parisian restaurant. Then you can both wander the streets of Paris and watch the street lights come on and the city come alive.
Do a Valentine’s Weekend Staycation
However, if you want a home away from home feeling, without leaving the UK, then a staycation is what you need. Why not book a weekend away at a little cottage in Devon, where you can watch the sunrise on a secluded beach or take a walk through the national parks? You can get lost in nature or visit the remote Scottish Highlands to escape the hustle and bustle of city life together. There are plenty of deals now for cottages and bed and breakfast you can find on TripAdvisor and snaptrip.
Do A Foodie Date At Borough Market
If you both are big foodies, why not visit Borough Market, a foodie’s heaven. Borough market caters to every dietary requirement, whether you’re a vegan, vegetarian, into green juices or a chocolate connoisseur, this place has you covered.Start the date off with a sangria at the entrance of the market or a mini wine tasting at one of the many bars outside. You can follow this up with oysters at the oyster bar or one of the many interesting dishes inside the market. Keep the cost down by sharing everything you buy, which is all a part of the romance.
They say sharing is caring and loving.
Early Valentine’s Dates At Peggy Porschen
You’ve just started dating and like each other enough to spend the day together, but don’t want to splash the cash as it’s still early days. Then head to Peggy Porschen for their mouth-wateringly moist cupcakes, cakes, cookies and edible treats. Everything through the parlours pastel pink doors will transport you into a fairy-tale from the pastel cutlery, the single pink rose on the six tables in the small parlour to the mini bottle of Moet & Chandon champagne, says romance. Don’t leave without trying their chocolate salted cameral cupcake or my favourite their red velvet cupcake with hot chocolate, all under £10.
Valentine day doesn’t need to leave you feeling like you’ve been robbed, it’s the thoughtful gesture that truly wins over any heart. The list of things you can do or places you can travel on valentines day to make your loved one feel special is endless. Pull something together that they would personally find exciting and romantic. Sometimes, cliché isn’t always as appreciated and enjoyed as giving or doing that one thing your loved one will love.
